The TCU equestrian team punched their ticket to the Big 12 Championship with a thrilling 10-9 victory over Baylor on Friday afternoon at the Willis Family Equestrian Center. With their eyes set on the prize, they now embark on their journey, aiming to clinch their first-ever Big 12 title.
FENCES
The fences team started the meet off strong with a 4-1 win over the Bears. Lilly Goldstein earned the first point of the event with a 76-67 win on Squid. Ashleigh Scully moves to 9-2-1 this season with a score of 84 on Electric. Sydney Berube had the highest score of the day in fences with an 85.33 on Kalvert edging her opponent by 11.66 points. Ella Bostwick claimed the final point for the Horned Frogs with an 83.33-39.93 on Bentley.
REINING
Reining began the day for the western team where the Frogs tied the Bears 2-2. After Baylor claimed the first two points, TCU put their heads down and earned the following two. Shea Graham earned a 73.17 on Bueno to begin the rally before Mattie Dukes outscore her opponent by 2.5 points to win 69.33-66.83 on Amelia.
FLAT
Back in the jumping seat arena the Baylor Bears won the event 4-1 to make the score 7-7 heading into the final event of the day. Bostwick completed her perfect day with an 80-73.33 win on Sunny.
HORSEMANSHIP
The meet came down to horsemanship where the Horned Frogs prevailed 3-2. The Bears secured the first two points of the event before Graham entered the arena. The senior had a stunning ride on Tari to win 74.5-72.83. Giorgia Medows edged her opponent by .33 to win on Dewey and earn her tenth win of the season. Payton Boutelle entered the arena with the meet all tied up 9-9. The senior clutched up to win 76-74.17 on Vegas and send the Horned Frogs to the Big 12 Championship.
